Using Athena Player with a Proxy
Using a proxy server on the network to control internet access can prevent Athena Player from accessing our server to activate the software.
Not all systems that use a proxy will need to follow the instructions below, if the Java environment is correctly configured, and the installed Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is used (by running the Download Edition, or by double clicking the AthenaPlayer.jar file rather than the EXE) Athena Player will connect without problems. If the installed JVM is not correctly configured, the instructions below can be used to override the settings
Specifying a Proxy Server for Athena Player 2.x
As of version 2, the proxy information can be specified when the application prompts for a serial. Selecting the checkbox displays the proxy server and port fields

Step by step guide to running Athena on a system with a Proxy
- Insert the Athena Player CD
- Cancel the "autorun" dialog (the one that pops up with a list of actions
- Open Windows Explorer to at the CD (details on how to do this are here)
- Run the file (by double clicking it) RunCourseWithProxy.cmd
! Note: The Volume License version of Athena Player has "VL" appended to the filename
- You'll be prompted for the Proxy server name, type it in and press enter
- You'll then be asked for the Port number, type it in and press enter
Athena Player will now start and use the specified Proxy.
Once the above has been completed, you can revert to running the software from the "Autorun" dialog
